Our
Medical Fund is always in need of your
tax deductible donations. This topic
remains one of the ongoing challenges
of all Rescue groups, not only for
"normal" expenses such as
shelter adoption fees, vaccination
costs, health screening tests, but
especially when one of our dogs needs
extra care for an existing health
issue. Should you wish to contribute to this fund,
you may send your donation to the
address at the bottom of the page.
Please specify "Medical
Fund" to have your donation work
directly for medical expenses. 100% of
your Medical Fund donation will be
used for our dogs' medical treatment
and related veterinary expenses such
as medications. Please
send medical fund donations to the
address listed below.

We at CGRR talk to many people who
tell us that their dogs love to sleep
outside in the good weather. If you
are reading this and your dog sleeps
outside--please, please be sure they
are on Heartworm Preventative.
Heartworm is inexpensive to prevent,
but very expensive and hard on the dog
if you have to treat them for it.
Heartworm seems to be more prevalent in Davis & Weber counties, but
Lucky Boy was from Utah County.....so
it can happen anywhere.
If you would like to make a donation
to help offset some of the costs
involved with medical care of dogs in
need,
please mark on your check who the
donation is for. You can also
make a donation using PayPal by
clicking the button at the bottom of
this page.
Thank You.
"Brandy"
This
spirited girl had won over the
hearts of a wonderful
family.....they were so impressed
by how great she was with their
two young boys. While they were
visiting, Brandy suddenly started
favoring one of her rear legs. It
was going to be a couple of days
before the family would take her
home, so we offered to get her
checked out--to make sure nothing
was wrong. Come to find out that
Brandy's right rear kneecap does
not sit in the socket. Her kneecap
is on the side of her leg....ouch!
When she was at the Vet, he
manipulated it back to where it
was supposed to be-(much to the
disagreement of Brandy!)--and
within just a couple of minutes,
it had popped back out. So this
girl is going to have knee surgery
and we are asking for your help.
The surgery will be somewhere
around $1200 - $1700, depending on
how bad things look when the
orthopedic surgeon opens the leg
up. If you can send a donation to
help offset the cost of Brandy's
surgery, we would be most
grateful. Who knows how long this
girl has had to live with this bum
knee.
Brandy is going to have a long,
slow recovery......we were told a
couple of months. It would be
wonderful if we could find a
foster home for her to recover in.
During that time she will need to
be kept fairly quiet, and it would
be better for her if there was
someone around more to keep an eye
on her....plus, she would probably
be happier in a home. She will not
be able to do stairs, and we feel
a home without too much going on
would be better also. We will
supply the food and any medical
costs will be taken care
of......we just need somewhere
quiet that she can recover. So, if
there is someone out there that
can help out by fostering this
sweet girl after her surgery,
please contact Steve or Debbie at
801 255 3010.
We appreciate your support!

"Elwood"
(adopted)
4/11/08-UPDATE:
Elwood has been treated for Heartworm
and he is doing great! He is ready to
go to his forever home. We
have found out that Elwood is
wonderful with kids....very gentle and
does not take things from them.
We have also found out that he needs
to be in a home with no cats. He
will need to be in a home with a
secure yard, and someone who will work
with him on setting boundaries.
We do not have any history on Elwood,
but we feel he will bolt if given the
chance. The person that works with him
will be rewarded ten-fold. He is
going to make someone a great
companion. He looks right into your
eyes, asking you to take him
home.......
Meet
Elwood......a tall, lanky boy-about 2
years old. Elwood was rescued
from a local shelter, so we don't know
much about him. He was actually
adopted from the shelter and brought
back after 2 days. Seems the
folks that adopted him wanted an
outside dog, and they said Elwood
would howl & bark
outside.....imagine that.....a Golden
who does not want to be stuck outside
alone! They also said he was not
housetrained.....well he was still
intact also, and it sounds like they
didn't put much effort into this
beautiful boy. This boy is very sweet,
loves to play fetch and has a great
demeanor. He came down with a
bad case of kennel cough, so we have
not been able to have in interact with
the other "kids" yet. He
seems eager to please, so training
should be easy. This boy would love a
home where he can be part of the
family--inside. Elwood also tested
positive for Heartworm, so once he is
healed from his neuter, we will need
to treat him. With bloodwork,
plus the treatment for Heartworm, it
usually runs around $350-$400. Plus,
they need a follow-up visit a month
later for a shot of Ivermectin.
We are looking for donations to help
with the cost of the treatment. If you
send a donation, please note on your
check that it is for Elwood. You
can mail your donation to P.O. Box
1317, West Jordan, UT 84084.
He will not be ready to go for a
couple of weeks, but if you are
interested in Elwood, please send us
your application.
Any
donation you can make will be greatly
appreciated. You can mail donations
