Meet Ally and
Anna - two very cute 4 year old
siblings, who have had it rough
for quite some time. They
came to CGRR from an owner, who
had injured herself awhile back
and realized she could no longer
care for these girls. They
moved here about a year ago and
had been living in an apartment,
spending way too much time in
crates. Many times these
girls were not even taken out to
go potty......they had to use
their crate. When they
first came to us, it became
obvious that a towel or blanket
in a crate was not to lay on -
it was to relieve themselves on.
Anna was able to go right into a
foster home, and we kept Ally
here. Ally only weighed 38
pounds, and we wanted to make
sure everything was okay with
her. We feel she was thin due
to the stress of her previous
environment. It only took
a couple of days for Ally to get
the routine down, and realize
she was not being left in her
crate for hours on end. We
were told that the owners had
moved to Utah about a year ago,
but we feel these two have been
kept pretty isolated for longer
than that, as they are
nervous of about anything that
is new. They need
work on the leash, and both need
to be socialized - alot.
Anna has done well in her foster
home - she is
housetrained, good with other
dogs, fine with cats......but
when she goes out for a
walk, she is frightened of many
things, so right now it has been
difficult for her to enjoy her
walks like a normal dog.
Anna is the dominant of the two,
but she is slowly learning from
a couple of other dogs that she
doesn't need to control
who comes in and out of
the house. Interesting
though, if another dog stands up
to her, she will turn and walk
away - it's like she is
all talk! Ally has
done very well here......she
shares a bigger kennel with
another dog and the two get
along great. There is no
food/treat aggression, they
cuddle together, and she has had
no accidents since about the
third day she was here.
We are not looking to place
these two together - in fact we
feel it would be better to split
them up. These girls need
to learn how to be a dog - so if
each could go to a home with
another dog, that would be great. It
is pretty obvious that no one
has worked with either of these
two, as they are very jumpy.
We feel they would do
better in homes with older or no
children, as they do not
understand the difference
between a toddler and an adult
- they will jump on either.
These two are about as sweet
as can be....they just need some
direction and guidance. The
adoption fee will include a
couple of training sessions
with Steve - at your home.
We want to be sure these girls
get off to a good start in
their new homes!
