This big boy is a
Golden Retriever/Lab mix, who was
adopted from CGRR a little over 3
years ago. Dexter is a
product of the tough times, as his
owners lost their home and had to
move....thus they had to bring
Dexter back. Dexter is now
5-6 years old and has had a little
too much "lovin" - as he
weighs around 98 pounds!
He spent much of
his time outside, as he has
the Lab energy and the family
told us he seemed happier having
the run of their property.
Dexter needs someone who is dog
savvy, and will work with
him, to teach him he does not have
to take charge. He is
a dominant male, and seems to do
better with females.....but he
does need a home with no cats.
Dexter loves his Kong toys
and he enjoys playing fetch, as
well as going for walks and hikes.
He is a strong boy and he walks
better with a doggie back pack on.
He did quite a bit of hiking with
his previous family and he had
three boys who kept him busy.
We have some regular volunteers
that spend time with the dogs. and
everyone loves Dexter! He can be
quite the clown, and he is all
about the attention! Dexter
wants to please, and he listens
quite well. He just
needs someone to work with him
regularly, and teach him what is
acceptable and what is not. We
want Dexter to know the good life
of being a house dog. He
loves attention, and as long
as he gets some good exercise, we
feel he will soon enjoy the good
life of being inside.
His adoption fee will include a
couple of lessons in your home
with Steve, as we want this boy to
get off to a good start in his new
home!
