"Duke"

4/27/10-UPDATE:  Duke is an interesting dog.   In many ways he is the perfect gentleman.......he is well mannered, housetrained, very in tune to you, walks beautifully on a leash----until he spots another dog.   Duke was not socialized "on leash" much, so we think he feels threatened when on lead, and he will charge the other dog.  He does respond to training, so Duke needs someone who knows how to work with him, to get him past this.  His adoption fee will include a couple of training sessions with Steve. Duke will make a wonderful companion....he just needs some confidence and someone to bring out the best in him.
 

Duke is a beautiful 7 year old male, who came to CGRR from an owner who had some changes in her life and could not keep her dogs. Duke is a very nice boy, who knows the basics and walks well on lead. He is housetrained, and is used to being in the home. He will counter surf if there is something he thinks smells and looks really good! Duke was attacked by a dog when he was younger, so he is sometimes cautious when meeting other dogs. He came to us with his sibling, Duchess. The two were raised together and used to be around one another, but did not socialize much with other dogs. Duke can be food possessive with other dogs. He is a sweet, sweet boy, who needs a home that will get him out for lots of walks, and help him to socialize more with other dogs. Duke is in great shape for walks and exercise, but then knows how to relax in the home. Come meet this boy!

"Duchess"

4/27/10-UPDATE:  Duchess is such a sweet girl.  She too has good manners, is housetrained, walks pretty well on leash....but Duchess needs some work in being socialized with other dogs.  She tends to be dominant, and needs someone who will work with her.  Her adoption fee includes a couple of training sessions with Steve.  Duchess would do just fine as an only dog - she would love to be the pampered princess.  Both Duke and Duchess are so sweet, and crave the human touch. They are not fond of the kennel life, and will do much better in a home. 

Duchess is a sweet 7 year old female - sibling to Duke. Duchess loves to play with toys, and can be a bit bossy if she thinks a toy should be hers! She is housetrained and loves to go for walks. Duchess also needs some good socialization with other dogs. She can be dominant when meeting new dogs. Both of these guys have had some stress in their lives, and need a stable home, that will provide them with routine and exercise. We are not looking to place them together......and actually feel they would do better apart, so each can develop their own personality. These siblings are a bit stressed in the "kennel life" and will do much better once they are in their forever homes.
