What
a cuddly sweet senior boy this
is! Leo is about 8 years old,
has a wonderful temperament and
loves attention. Leo was
rescued from a local shelter,
and from the looks of him when
we got him, no one had paid much
attention to his well being for
some time. He was very dirty,
his ears were horrible. We had a
deep ear cleaning done to be
sure there was nothing lodged in
his ears. His first couple
of weeks here were rough, as he
also had a bad case of kennel
cough. Leo is much better
and we feel he is ready for his
forever home. He is good with
other dogs, loves all people.
We do feel he had been an
outside dog, but he has done
very well with the routine here
and has not had any accidents in
his den area. He is quiet,
well mannered and enjoys chasing
after tennis balls. We would
love for Leo to have a home
where he can be part of the
pack-inside, and have someone to
take him for regular walks.
He will be a great addition to
your home!
12/13/07-UPDATE:
We are long overdue for an update
about Leo. One of our volunteers
has nicknamed him "Leo, the
Golden Lion." He is
such a sweetie and truly loves
attention. However.....Leo will
need to be an only dog. He does
not seem to want to share the
attention he gets with any other
dogs. Probably from his being alone
for so long, and not being
properly socialized, Leo has been
very selective about the dogs he
gets along with. He does not want
to share attention.
But.....perhaps this sweet boy
deserves to be the king of the
roost. He had been neglected for
so long and now has permanent ear
problems because of it. Leo's
right ear canal is almost
completely closed off and will
need to be kept clean. He will
need to be kept on a good quality
food, as he has allergy issues as
well. Leo loves to be brushed,
enjoys going for walks and has
lots of love & kisses to give
to whoever decides to make him
part of their family. Leo would
also do better in a home with
children over 10 years old. He is
not quite sure of the fast
movements of little children. Leo
is looking for his forever home,
where he can live out his
remaining senior years, feeling
safe & loved.
